Pepe le Moko has been plucking the bass guitar for various indie rock, pop and blues artists for over 10 years. Fans of indie rock remember her as bass player for the semi-legendary Wedding Present, touring all around the world from the USA, Australia and Asia to Europe, UK and Ireland. She has played major festivals such as Primavera Sound Festival, SXSW, Off Festival and has toured venues up to 3000 people capacity.
Radio experience includes live sessions for various BBC programs, US radio stations such as KEXP and WNYC as well as various major European radio stations.
Pepe played and contributed writing on The Wedding Present’s last studio album “Valentina”, produced by Andrew Scheps (U2, Adele, Red Hot Chili Peppers). Other studio work includes collaborations with producers such as Jimmy Napes (Eliza Doolittle, Finley Quaye) and Dean James (Plan B, Ellie Goulding, GetCapeWearCapeFly).
The last few years, Pepe has been playing bass for young blues and soul artist Ben Poole as part of his trio, four piece and six piece line up. They have been extensively touring in continental Europe and the UK; noteworthy performances are Blue Balls Festival in Luzern and the Royal Albert Hall for the London Blues Festival. Furthermore, Pepe collaborated with SiSSi, the new solo project of indie fashion icon Liz Neumayr (Ladyfuzz, co-writer for Bloc Party).
Other projects include up and coming noisy grungers The Evil Son and Ron Eagle – an Americana project with songs about death.
Whilst her signature sound is an overdriven gritty driving bass on a P Bass, she also enjoys grooving to pop, blues and soul on her Spitfire by GB Guitars.
